The new doors are in!!!!!!!

REAL.GOOD.COFFEE.
The big news this week is that the doors are FINALLY in!!!! After all the work trying to get the new space operational, it seems a bit anti-climatic while at the same time feeling pretty euphoric.
A few finishing touches remain but the biggest part is complete.
These doors have been the plan for at least four years. The light coming through the windows in the late afternoon is absolutely splendid. I'm anxious to get the paper off the windows so we can experience the full effect.
And it's nice to have the large opening sealed up so the heat can stay in the space. It feels quite decadent to be able to go around without multiple layers of clothing on.
The shop seems to be getting busier by the day. More and more folks are discovering we're here after smelling the aroma of fresh roasted coffees.
On Tuesday, the PSU BOP Business Acceleration group held their monthly meeting in the shop. It was a great event on a beautiful day. It really made me appreciate our large windows.
Tonight we're participating in the St. Johns, "Night on the Town" event. Many local merchants have extended hours and specials to get the holiday season started.
We will be here at the shop until 8 pm and are extending our "Grumpy Hour" to coincide with that. We'll be offering $.50 off any coffee beverage from 5 - 8 pm so come on in for some fresh roasted organic and fair trade coffee as well as a nice assortment of pastries and bagels.
I spent a long day roasting yesterday in preparation so the shelves are stocked with the complete selection of coffees.
And, I'll be roasting again on Monday so if you need coffee for the Thanksgiving weekend, we've got you covered.

Our regular business hours are as follows:
Monday through Friday - 6:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Saturday - 8:00 am - 5 pm.
Sunday - Closed

Thank you for your continued support. We are very proud of the new space and our increased ability to provide some of the best coffee ever.
Please keep posted via our Facebook page and come visit us.

A very happy Thanksgiving to everyone and keep the coffee flowing,

Our first month!

REAL.GOOD.COFFEE.
It's hard to believe yesterday was our one month anniversary of the new space being open. It seems so much has happened in just four weeks and each day has gotten better.
We just received our completed new counters so will have some additional seating capacity.
The guy who helped me craft them told me that for what I was trying to accomplish off-site, there was a 10% success rate.
Turns out he was right. My measurements were just a tad off which is going to require some retro-fitting.
Starting tomorrow, we'll be offering a nice selection of delicious baked goods from Fleur De Lis Bakery. We'll have a selection of croissants, muffins and scones as well as some savory treats.
And in case you haven't heard, we've now added house-made bagel spreads and house-made pumpkin spice for lattes. Both are delicious and proving to be very popular additions.

One of the most popular additions to the new space has been the installation of the pour-over station.  People love selecting from our list of over 20 coffees and then watching us brew their individual cup. It's my favorite brewing technique.

I invite you to come in and experience it for yourself if you've not yet done so.

Grumpy Hour

REAL.GOOD.COFFEE.
It sounds weird but one of the biggest adjustments for me has been as I emerge from the roasting area into the new space, seeing people just hanging out enjoying coffee and conversations and having a good time.
After so many years in a "garage", it's a huge shift in thinking but it's exactly what we had hoped to accomplish and it feels absolutely fantastic!
Last Sunday I spent the day working on more countertops which are destined for the two corner windows. This Sunday I'll get them glued up and ready to finish so they'll be ready to install in another week, adding to our seating capacity and offering some nice views of Forest Park and the St. Johns Bridge
Our new sign is scheduled to be installed Monday so it will be even easier to find us on these dark mornings.
We're gradually adding more offerings to our selection of coffee related merchandise as well as food items.
This week we added Dragonfly Chai and are now offering soy, almond and hemp milk as alternatives to dairy.
The teas we've added from The Olive and Vine have proven very popular, and delicious.

And beginning Monday, October 27th, we're introducing "Grumpy Hour"

Bars have happy hours so I thought it would be fun to do something completely opposite.
Mondays through Fridays from 6 am - 8 am, receive fifty cents off any coffee beverage. Come on in and bring us your grumpy. After some REAL.GOOD.COFFEE., we doubt you'll leave grumpy.
Free wifi is also available for those of you who want to be productive while away from your home or office.
Our regular business hours are as follows:
Monday through Friday - 6:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Saturday - 8:00 am - 5 pm.
Sunday - Closed
Come check out the new digs and choose from our selection of 20 different coffees for your caffeinated pleasure.
Thank you for your continued support. We are very proud of the new space and our increased ability to provide some of the best coffee ever.
Please keep posted via our Facebook page or our web site for further progress updates.

We've just completed what has been an amazing first full week of business in our new space.
Each day has gotten better as more people find out about us. It's a joy to have so many new folks coming into the shop and just hanging out while they enjoy some of our freshly roasted organic and fair trade coffees.
We're gradually adding more offerings to our selection of coffee related merchandise.
We just received a new order of the Baratza conical burr grinders this past week. And, we're expanding on our beverage offerings as well.
We're adding Dragonfly Chai next week and we've added some delicious teas from The Olive and Vine.
And.... we now have free wifi available for those of you who want to be productive while away from your home or office.
Our regular business hours are as follows:
Monday through Friday - 6:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Saturday - 8:00 am - 5 pm.

Houston; We have lift off!!!

After many years of promises, our shop is finally open and it feels amazing!
With that, we have regular business hours which are as follows:
Monday through Friday - 6:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Saturday - 8:00 am - 5 pm.
Sunday - Closed
Please come by and see the new digs and choose from our selection of 20 different coffees for your caffeinated pleasure.
We also have a delicious variety of bagels and schmears to go with your coffee and you can now sit down and enjoy them right here without having to juggle them as you walk down the sidewalk.
We're still fine-tuning things but we are completely operational and the remaining details are purely cosmetic.
Construction on the entry to the "old" shop continues. Yesterday was the installation of the awning and today they're pouring the new sidewalk. The new entry will be installed sometime the week of the 20th.
Thank you for your continued support. We are very proud of the new space and our increased ability to provide some of the best coffee ever.

How sweet it is!

Posted on October 03, 2014 by Darius Kuzmickas | 0 Comments

A great big thank you for all who came by last Saturday and helped inaugurate our new space. It was an exciting day for us and it was great to receive so much positive feedback.

It's a real delight being in the new space. Lots of great window light and a great energy with all the various people. How sweet it is!

We had some challenges keeping up with everything and my deepest apologies for some extended wait times.

With each day that passes, we're getting closer to opening on a daily basis. We'll be here again tomorrow and have hopefully smoothed out the rough spots.
Right now the crew is here to pour the new concrete on the shop floor, sidewalk and curb. I believe the new doors are slated to be installed sometime next week.
In addition to all the construction, more and more people are discovering our coffees. For the month of October, our coffees are being featured in the Airbnb network as well as Squarespace.com.
Come by and meet our newest member Lana. She'll be working with Ed and myself to help keep things running smoothly. We will be here normal hours of 8 am - 3 pm.
Last week, we received a new shipment of the Mexican pottery and just today, had the opportunity to open the boxes. What a delight!
In addition to the usual espresso and cappuccino cups, we received some beautiful new platters. Come see for yourself. These would make beautiful serving platters for the upcoming holidays.
I'm going to keep this brief so I can get more work done in the new space to prepare for tomorrow.
Please keep posted via our Facebook page or our web site for further progress updates.

Best Regards and keep the coffee flowing,

The Good News!

Posted on September 26, 2014 by Mount Burns | 0 Comments

REAL.GOOD.COFFEE.
What a week it's been! It's been so chaotic, I don't remember what happened when. The roll-up door finally went away and we now have a plywood wall in its place until the new doors are installed next week.

The electricians have been here most of the week and just about 30 minutes ago, turned on the lights so we now have "real light". Quite luxurious!

The plumbers are here now, connecting the various fixtures. Cabinetry has been installed as have the countertops. So, while we're not as far along as I had hoped, WE WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW!!!

Barring any unforeseen disasters, everything should be operational. In the event something does "go south", we will at least be able to offer brewed (both hot and cold) and whole bean coffee.

Please come check out the new space and excuse the mess while we continue working to complete everything. We're eager to finish things up so we can better serve you.
We will be here normal hours of 8 am - 3 pm. Once everything is 100% complete, we will be open on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, please keep posted via Facebook or our web site for further progress updates.

Best Regards and keep the coffee flowing,

Mount and crew
